RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Winnebago County Sheriff’s officials say a 23-year-old man needed assistance after falling through the ice on the Fox River near Ohio Street in Oshkosh Tuesday night.
He was cold and wet when he called the Sheriff’s Communications Center. He was trying to walk across the river when he broke through the ice and fell into the river. He was able to get out of the water and get to shore where he called 911. A passerby who saw him struggling called 911 as well.
The man got assistance from law enforcement and first responders, he was not injured. The Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone that no ice is 100 percent safe, especially if there is a current like in the Fox River.
