RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Pursuit of a stolen vehicle suspect in Fond du Lac County Thursday morning ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into an uninvolved motorist in Fond du Lac near West Johnson Street and I-41.
Sheriff’s officials say law enforcement personnel surrounded the vehicle and after a few seconds the suspect got out of the vehicle and was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle turned up 2.5 ounces of suspected methamphetamine scattered throughout the interior. A loaded pistol was also found that had been stolen out of Missouri.
The uninvolved motorist suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by EMS and subsequently released. A second uninvolved motorist’s vehicle was struck but that driver was not injured.
The suspect has a lengthy criminal history in the state dating back to 2006 and was wanted on warrants from the Department of Corrections and Calumet County. The suspect was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on a number of charges related to the pursuit, drug and weapons possession, and a second OWI.
The chase covered 3.1 miles.
